Testimonials

"Your brilliance and creativity cannot be overstated, nor can the phenomenal impact of your scholarship. I am a Black woman and I spend each day carrying the weight of the matriarchy and the world, prying loose the tether binding me to too much, and warding off the darts of judgment, competition, and supremacy attempting to put me in my place. I needed your healing gaze today. I cannot adequately express how known and seen I felt as you presented. The breadth and depth of your creativity and laser focus on the gap you identified literally astounded me. Your work is so original and necessary."

-JJ

She sees the possibility and passion in each person she engages with, directing and supporting their personal and professional growth while still prioritizing organizational needs. People truly flourish under Courtney's leadership, and therefore so does the work."

She brings expertise across multiple fields including educational leadership, student development, race and racism, and cultural competency. She presents content in multiple modalities to support various learning styles. She is a clear and effective communicator of content which is rooted in her deep understanding of the topics; moreover, she has a unique capacity to help learners understand new concepts and how to apply them in everyday life."

FAQ

  • Let’s kick things off with a complimentary consultation! This is your chance to share your unique individual or organizational needs, and we’ll explore together if we’re a good match to take your journey to the next level.

  • (I love this question and I love answering it!)

The intentional absence of the “o” in Brwn is more than a stylistic choice—it’s a statement.

Brwn Place was created to serve Black and Brown women navigating workplace harm, and the missing “o” represents the ways Black women, in particular, are often overlooked, underestimated, misnamed or made to feel invisible in professional spaces. I wanted the name itself to evoke a pause—to spark curiosity about what’s missing, and why.

This omission invites deeper reflection: What do we fail to notice? Who gets left out? And what happens when we begin to pay attention?

I also wanted the name itself to disrupt that norm and so the name was designed to also elevate agency.
The spelling of Brwn pushes against who or what gets to define us, speak for us, or decide what is "complete." It acknowledges the spectrum of Blackness and Brownness—our stories, identities, and lived experiences are not one-size-fits-all. We are not a monolith. We are layered, complex, and the variety, the full spectrum is worthy of voice and visibility.

At the same time, it’s a celebration. The “missing piece” represents not a lack—but a presence that matters. Brwn Place affirms that Black women’s leadership, brilliance, and essence are vital. Even when we’re missed, we show up. Not for perfection, but for presence, power, and purpose.

The name is an offering and a reminder: You matter. Your presence should be noticed. And when it’s not, the space is incomplete.

  • Finding the right fit is essential for both individual and organizational success. It’s all about aligning our values, goals, and visions for the journey ahead. During our initial consultation, we’ll discuss your unique needs and aspirations, whether you’re an individual seeking personal growth or an organization aiming for cultural transformation. It’s important to me that we feel comfortable and excited about collaborating, so we’ll both have the opportunity to ask questions and ensure our partnership will lead to meaningful progress. If we’re not the best match, I’ll do my best to point you in the right direction!

  • Timelines depend on the project. We will meet to determine the scope of the project along with deliverables and I will provide you with a recommendation based on my assessment of your needs and goals.

  • Absolutely. I understand the challenges that individuals from under-resourced communities and non-profit organizations often face. I've been there myself, and I've experienced the generosity of others during tough times. I believe it's important to make my services accessible, and I'm more than willing to discuss options that could work for you. We can explore flexible pricing, sliding scale fees, or customized solutions that align with your needs. Your journey is important to me, and I’m here to help in any way I can.

I look forward to working with you!
